This home was a lock up build. It’s a beautiful fresh home with a Balinese feel to it.
This home utilises all the benefits of steel from the use of the floor system, wall frames and trusses to the choice of the colorbond roofing and colorbond weather board cladding.
The use of chunky timber posts, with the hardwood decking and eaves lining give the external feature a natural earthy feel.

Steel Houses and Mick Ainsworth. In 2010 myself and my wife found ourselves in a situation where we were unable to find a suitable house to buy in the Bellingen area so we had no choice but to build, not something I wanted to do again mainly because of my age.
We wanted to break away from the Brick & Tile on a concrete slab style so we approached Mick Ainsworth, Mick had the perfect system, steel, what a wonderful medium, I was aware of steel frames but not the cladding and floor system.
The steel pier and floor joist system makes an excellent stable floor, the frames and trusses are so straight, much easier than timber, not forgetting one of the most important advantages “No White Ant protection needed”.
So much choice in colour was available for the roofing and the walls, now the wall cladding! We chose the timber lap look and people have to tap and touch to believe it’s actually steel and for me no maintenance or painting.
